I'm a newly retired high school English teacher. This was always my favorite short story to teach! If you do it right, it really sings. The phrasing is so exquisite. Students always asked, "Do you have more like this?" Do many readers realize that the seven chambers are inspired by Shakespeare's "Seven Ages of Man" soliloquy? 'Tis true.

Here is the best audio recording of the story that I know--it's fantastic: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ywzdt7GG9fzpi047ShyyadBxSpFRm0My/view?usp=sharing

Here's a student film from Australia that is obviously low budget but very entertaining and, in my opinion, really captures the mood of the story: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CxYP83S6WALRuoRfdP1LX5NoR9Threfq/view?usp=sharing

Oh this was so poetic in its visuals and the mood, the colourful lights and the sounds full of music and laughs turned wails are so vivid in my mind. Thank you for this initiative!
